Romania extends deadline for Alenia's Avioane Craiova takeover negotiations

By Matthew Bell

01 July 2009

Talks between Italy's Alenia Aeronautica and Romania's Authority of State Assets Recovery (AVAS) regarding the possible takeover of the latter country's Avioane Craiova aerospace venture have been extended beyond their original 30 June deadline after the parties failed to reach an agreement.

A spokesperson for AVAS told Jane's on 30 June: "We are going to continue negotiations with Alenia," adding that the Romanian government would discuss on 1 July "the new deadline for the end of talks".

The spokesperson denied there had been any problems with negotiations so far and confirmed that no other companies had expressed interest in taking control of Avioane Craiova.

Alenia, for its part, declined to comment on the extension of the negotiations deadline.
