Energy and the New Global Industrial Landscape: A Tectonic Shift?

IHS is both a strategic partner and the Energy Knowledge partner at the World Economic Forum annual meeting, which is being held 23-27 January in Davos, Switzerland. This is our seventh year as a partner at Davos, where IHS works to advance the WEF goal of driving positive change and improving the state of the world. The IHS team is led by President and COO Scott Key, IHS CERA Chairman Dan Yergin and IHS Chief Economist Nariman Behravesh.

The theme of this year’s meeting is Resilient Dynamism. To start discussions, we are releasing the latest IHS forecasts for the global economy for 2013. Key insights are:

• The world economy will stabilize in 2013, with the stage set for a modest acceleration towards the end of the year and into 2014
• Growth in the US is likely to pick up steam, provided there is no more political mischief over the fiscal cliff
• In Europe recovery will be weak, while in China there are signs the economy is gaining momentum
