Terry Pattar is a Senior Consultant with the Security and Military Intelligence (SMI) Practice of IHS Consulting. For most of his career he has focused on thematic security threats, in particular Islamist extremism, as well as on regional security dynamics in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. An Arabic speaker, Mr. Pattar has specific expertise on the ideologies, personalities and groups that have come to prominence through the rise of violent Islamist extremism. Prior to joining IHS, Mr. Pattar spent six years working for the UK Ministry of Defence as a Senior Research Analyst. He has commented regularly on security issues in international media and news outlets, such as Bloomberg and BBC News.
Courtney Shiflet is an Analyst with the Security and Military Intelligence (SMI) Practice of IHS Consulting. She was a key member of the SMI team involved in profiling radical Islamist websites and previously served as a lead analyst, providing monthly open-source analysis on security issues in Iraq. Prior to joining IHS Jane’s, Ms. Shiflet served as a part of an open-source intelligence cell which tracked and analyzed WMD proliferation activity worldwide. Her main areas of expertise are WMD, extremism and criminal behavior.
Coralie Martin is an Analyst with the Security and Military Intelligence (SMI) Practice of IHS Consulting. Prior to joining IHS, she conducted studies of the political, economic, and military environment in several Eastern European states and Russia for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Her deep understanding of geopolitical forces and security challenges in Europe was shaped through her work at the French Embassy in Moscow, the Ministry of Defense in France, and for Le Monde newspaper.
