Jane's World Railways

In a rapidly changing world of increasing commercialisation and privatisation of state-owned systems, Jane’s World Railways ensures you do not get left behind.

Content Structure
Jane’s World Railways is designed to give the reader data on railway systems and railway equipment manufacturers across the globe. A companion volume, Jane’s Urban Transport Systems, gives details on metro, light rail and bus operations in the world’s larger cities.

Structure
This title is divided into two main sections:

At the front of each Manufacturers and Services chapter are two company listings; an alphabetical listing and a listing by country. A separate section covers railway associations and agencies.

Record structure
Railway systems and operators: For most countries, basic data is given on the transport ministry, including key personnel and contact details. Network maps are also provided. System operators then follow, with address, telephone and fax numbers, web site, key personnel, track gauge, route length and, where appropriate, length of track electrified and electrification system. Information then follows, covering:

Motive power details are given in tables. The smaller systems do not necessarily have entries for each standard subheading, while for the larger systems, the standard subheadings are broken down with italicised subheads on individual subjects.

Manufacturers and services: Each entry gives details of the manufacturer including address, telephone, fax, web site, key personnel, information on products or services provided, recent contracts and, where appropriate, background information and recent developments and contracts.

Images
Photographs are provided wherever possible. Images are annotated with a seven digit number which uniquely identifies them in Jane’s image database.
