An invaluable resource to guide you through the trends, market shifts, armament, development and descriptions in unmatched detail. Even the most discerning ammunition researcher or expert will view Jane’s Ammunition Handbook as a necessity to meet their information needs.
Content Structure
This book is divided into sections, each denoting the type of ammunition included. The section titles are provided on the Contents page, with each major section title repeated on each page heading for rapid reference. Within each section, the contents are arranged by calibre, from the smallest upwards, apart from the Grenades section, where there are further divisions into sub-types to categorise the contents in more detail. As far as can be accomplished, in the larger-calibre sections, the contents are arranged alphabetically by nation.
Structure
For space reasons, no attempt has been made to provide manufacturer information in each entry, other than an indication, where possible, of the main producers. Again, where possible, each entry has an international listing of the known manufacturers. In most cases, this should be treated more as an indication of a capability to manufacture rather than as an indication that the products concerned are being actively marketed.
Description
Within each entry, the Development section provides an account of each product’s development and (where applicable) commercial history. The Description text provides a technical account of the products, with further backing provided by the data included in the Specifications table. The Authorised fuzes text for the larger calibres provides an indication of the usual fuzes employed, together with an indication of interchangeability, where known or practical.
Manufacturers
The Equivalent rounds text provides, as far as can be achieved, a listing of all the known manufacturers on an international basis. This section should not be taken as an official listing of licensed producers, for in some cases, only marketing agents are indicated, while some manufacturers may not have any licence or commercial permission to produce a particular product.
Index
An index of manufacturers is provided towards the back of this book, providing addresses and other contact information, together with an outline listing of the products manufactured or marketed by each manufacturer.
