Content Structure
This title details information essential for those interested in the world’s armour and artillery subsystems that are currently in production, under development or for which production facilities still exist around the globe.

Structure
Details of a particular system are included if it is currently in production, under development, or it is thought that production facilities still exist. The exception to this is the Vehicle-mounted anti-tank guided weapons section as this does include a number of missiles that, although no longer in production, are still widely deployed. Wherever feasible the entries in a particular section are listed in country order which is further subdivided into alphabetical company order.

However, in several sections in this title, alphabetical listing has not been possible due to the rapidly changing circumstances caused by company takeovers and name changes. Every effort has been made to ensure that the current manufacturer’s name has been assigned to its product.

In the Armoured fighting vehicle armament section, the weapons are ordered by calibre size, largest first, smallest last. If two weapons have the same calibre then the latest weapon is normally listed first. The same applies to the Turrets section, the largest calibre turrets are first and the smallest last.

Record Structure
Where the necessary information is available an entry is split into a number of headings:

Development - this is a brief summary of the product’s development, commercial history and, where possible, actual examples of application.

Description - this is a technical description of the product and usually includes additional information to that given in the following Specifications table. It also contains relevant information regarding variants of the product.

Specifications - this is a table listing specific technical and performance data which is considered to be of use to a professional in evaluating of a particular product.

Status - this gives the current production position of the product and, wherever possible, a list of known users.

Note: Where it has not been possible to place product information under the Development and Description headings, the brief history and technical description are incorporated into a single heading titled

Development/Description.

Images
Photographs are provided for each equipment wherever possible. Line drawings and graphics are also provided in some cases. Images are annotated with a seven digit number which uniquely identifies them in Jane’s image database. When selecting photographs for inclusion, priority is given to those that show the latest appearance of the system and, where feasible, the system in its operational application.
