Description
The Tenix S600 Armoured Personnel Carrier is a highly mobile and manoeuvrable vehicle based on the DaimlerChrysler Mercedes Unimog U5000 military truck chassis. Its armoured body provides all-round protection for the driver, commander and up to 14 personnel. Fabricated by Tenix from high hardness steel armour, it can defeat 7.62 mm × 51 NATO ball, 5.56 mm SS109 and 7.62 mm × 39 AK-47 at 10 m range. The S600 body has been designed to resist attack from petrol bombs and protects against hand grenade and anti-personnel mine fragmentation and blast. The interior of the Tenix S600 is spacious, comfortable and has good operational ergonomics. Heating, demisting and air conditioning is provided. The air conditioning provides for 100 per cent internal circulation to prevent the entry of smoke and CS gas to the vehicle. The large windows and seating installed to the customer's preference provide situational awareness for the crew and mounted troops. The Tenix S600 is available in right- or left-hand drive. With a range of up to 1,000 km and speed of 100 km/h the S600 can drive all day without refuelling for operational deployments by road. Its high ground clearance, differential locks, central tyre inflation system and four wheel drive provide excellent traction off road. Combined with a low centre of gravity, large angles of approach and departure, long suspension travel and fording depth of 800 mm (1.2 m optional) mean that the S600 is rarely stopped during tactical deployment.
