Development
The Platt MR555 Weapon Station is a development of earlier Platt 'MR' ring mount variants that have been used on the ASLAV 8 × 8 APC and the 6 × 6 Long Range Patrol vehicle used by the Australian SAS. In 2005 the US Defense Department ordered 148 RG-31 Charger mine-protected vehicles from BAE Land Systems OMC for use in Iraq. Each of these vehicles is equipped with a Platt MR555 Protected Weapon Station. In 2007 the UK MoD purchased a quantity of MR555 for use on its BAE Systems Hägglunds BvS10 Viking for operational use in Afghanistan and BAE Systems Land Systems FV432 Mk 3 Bulldog APCs for use in Operation Telic 10 in Iraq.
