The Chinese cargo ship carrying six containers of ammunition and mortars for the Zimbabwe Defence Force arrived off Luanda, capital of Angola, on 27 April.


The vessel, An Yue Jiang , is reported to have been granted permission to enter Luanda harbour to refuel and to land cargo destined for Angola, but it is not clear whether the ship also intends to land the Zimbabwe munitions cargo. South African press reports state that the ship has not been given permission to do so, but those reports also say that the chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Force, General Sydney Sekeramai, has flown to Luanda with a senior cabinet member, Housing and Social Affairs Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa, for talks with the Angolan government.
