Aermacchi scoops UAE trainer prize
Yesterday afternoon the UAE announced that it had selected the Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master for the UAE Air Force and Air Defence. A total of 48 M-346s will be supplied for both advanced training and the combat air support role.

On track for naval support
Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) and UK-based warship building and support services group BVT Surface Fleet aim to stand up their new naval support joint venture in the UAE in the third quarter of this year, senior executives from both partners have confirmed to the IDEX Show Daily.

Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding (ADSB) and Raytheon Missile Systems are discussing the establishment of a locally based intermediate-level support facility for RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) rounds being supplied to the UAE Naval Forces’ Baynunah corvette programme.

CNIA contracts AIS for training services
Security integration and facilitation group Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS) has been awarded two contracts worth a combined AED767m (£144m) to provide operational and technical training for the UAE’s Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA).

JELS obtains funding for robot development
Jordan Electronic Logistics Support (JELS) (Hall 12, Stand C04) has signed a contract with a group of UK-based investors headed by Naer Aljumaily, to develop its robot platform, which will be used against improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The contract is valued at US$850,000.

ITT Corporation has signed an Executive Memorandum of Understanding at IDEX with Emirates Advanced Investments (EAI) to formalise a partnership for the exploration of key business and security sectors in the UAE, including communications, sensing and surveillance, space and advanced engineering and services.
