IGG to supply RCWSs
The International Golden Group (IGG) has signed a contract worth AED789m with an undisclosed German company for the transfer of technology under which lightweight Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (RCWSs) will be supplied to the UAE Armed Forces.

Baynunah corvette on the launchpad
French shipbuilder Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie (CMN) (French Pavilion, Hall 7, Stand C29) is pushing forward with outfit activity on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Naval Forces’ first Baynunah corvette in preparation for its launch later this year.

First public showing for STK’s Warthog
Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK) has chosen this year’s IDEX to show for the first time in public its Bronco All Terrain Tracked Carrier (ATTC), with many of the modifications to be incorporated into the British Army’s Warthog configuration.

Andrasta compact submarine revealed
French naval shipbuilding and systems group DCNS (Hall 7, Stand B16) is giving IDEX visitors a glimpse inside its new Andrasta compact coastal submarine. Designed to meet an emerging market for a robust, affordable and supportable submarine capable of performing a range of littoral defence missions, Andrasta has been developed from the SMX-23 concept first unveiled by DCNS in 2006.

On 27 January, Sagem and the French procurement agency DGA successfully dropped the first 125kg version of the AASM (Armement Air-Sol Modulaire) guided weapon.

DART defeats missiles on the move
To fulfil the new challenging requirements such as manoeuvring anti-ship missiles, and to consolidate its leadership position in the market of medium calibre guns, Oto Melara has developed the DART guided projectile, capable of being re-vectored towards the target during its time of flight, and the new 76mm Strales System, both on display at the Finmeccanica Stand D10, Hall 6.
