DART defeats missiles on the move

To fulfil the new challenging requirements such as manoeuvring anti-ship missiles, and to consolidate its leadership position in the market of medium calibre guns, Oto Melara has developed the DART guided projectile, capable of being re-vectored towards the target during its time of flight, and the new 76mm Strales System, both on display at the Finmeccanica Stand D10, Hall 6.

The 76mm Strales version includes a number of new features, such as the double ammunition feeding system, digital console, guidance antenna, gun shield and the relevant electronic equipment specifically designed for the DART ammunition guidance.

The DART round is claimed to be extremely effective not only against the next generation of manoeuvring missiles, but also to defeat swarms of Fast Intruder Attack Craft, and attacks by pirates.

Oto Melara has already supplied the 76mm guns in the Compact and Super Rapid versions to 52 navies worldwide, including Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council members.
