Demonstrator in frame for FRES
The first of two Integrated Demonstrator (8x8) vehicles has been completed at the BAE Systems Hägglunds facility in Sweden, with the second expected to follow within two months.

A compact alternative to active defence methods
The evident need to provide vehicle protection for a wide variety of platforms is stimulating renewed interest in Rheinmetall’s Light Vehicle Protection System on display on its outdoor site (OD150). Meeting the need for small size and light weight, the system has been demonstrated on an Opel Omega motorcar, but is shown here atop a Gavial light armoured multi-purpose vehicle with which it has been integrated.

Security on the move
Armor Holdings subsidiary Centigon, which claims to be the world’s leading commercial armoured vehicle manufacturer, is displaying an armoured Mercedes S500, as well as the armoured version of the Chevrolet Suburban 2007 model.

Better protection for armoured vehicles
Diehl BGT Defence (Stand 1318) features a mockup of the AWiSS active protection system for armoured vehicles. Although seen before at defence exhibitions, it is assuming growing importance in view of the successful IED and other attacks on Allied vehicles in Iraq.
