Vaughans of Leicester is showcasing its Prima Mark II Helipad, which incorporates improvements designed to ease deployment over difficult terrain. The Helitile system previously produced by the company featured a steel ramp edge but this has been replaced with a ramp/edge system in plastic, which achieves greater performance and flexibility in use.
The under/over hook system used to integrate the components of the helipad has been adopted for the new edge, making it as simple to fit as the rest of the pad. However, where the terrain is particularly difficult or exposed, ancillary fixing may be required and for this a quickfit bolt system has been designed to provide extra strength and safety.
When no pinning or tethering is required, the Prima Helipad system can be laid without the need for special tools or handling equipment. As an aid to use at night or in inclement weather, the new Prima Helilight is a simple push-fit into the Helitiles to function as wireless and remote controlled beacons.
