Head start for the future soldier
Elno on Stand E88 in the French Pavilion features advanced technology that will ease the task of tank crews. The most advanced is the special osteophone for the ‘combatant of the future’ – a programme initiated by the DGA for the French Army and designated the Type OH 295 Audio Headset.

Small arms first for UAE
Caracal International LLC (Stands CON 200 and A41) was launched yesterday as the first Emirate firm to specialise in small arms manufacture. Its first products, the F and C pistols, are on show, but, according to managing director Hamad Khalifa Al Neyadi, the company has ambitions to establish a highquality defence manufacturing industry in the UAE meeting world standards.

The VideoRay underwater robot shown by the Emirates Aviation Supply Centre on its outdoor Stand OD1266 has been developed by Underwater Remotely Operated Systems for many tasks including search and rescue, port surveillance and ship hull inspections.

Ample strength from ATLAS II
Making its international show debut, the Atlas II all-terrain lifter army system exhibited by JLG Industries (Stand CON 300) is the recent winner of a US Army competition, which resulted in an order for no fewer than 566 vehicles. Unlike traditional lift trucks, the Atlas II can reach into long wheelbase trucks or shipping containers, lift loads over trenches, pick up loads from above or below grade and be fitted with buckets or other attachments.

MASS decoy protects warships off Lebanon
Germany’s Rheinmetall Waffe Munition (Outdoor OD150) has revealed that its MASS (Multi Ammunition Softkill System) countermeasures suite has been fitted as a mission tasking enhancement to German and Swedish warships assigned to UNFIL operations off Lebanon.
