UAE’s vital role in war against terror

UAE’s vital role in war against terrorThe well-attended fourth Gulf Defence Conference, the now traditional curtain raiser for IDEX, brought together military experts from Europe and the US to project their views on the security issues that affect the world, and the Middle East region in particular.

Some 500 delegates from 24 countries as far apart as the US, Australia, Nepal and South Africa, paid tribute to the high level of presentations, which focused on how best to meet the defence and security requirements of the Gulf through judicious use of existing and new technology.

The conference was opened by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who reminded the attendees of the vital role of the UAE in sharing in the global struggle to combat terrorism.

“The nations of the region are looking for stability and prosperity by avoiding struggles, conflicts and wars,” Sheikh Mubarak said.

The presence of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s National Security Adviser, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reflected the importance of the conference.
