Eurocopter expects 5% annual revenue growth to 2012
Eurocopter intends to add EUR500 million (USD795 million) to its revenues every year until 2012, when the market should start slowing, the company's chief executive officer has told Jane's.
Lutz Bertling said the European helicopter manufacturer anticipates growing at least 5 per cent each year for the next three or four years, with growth spread equally between the civil and defence segments.

Bell official 'not stunned' as US Army says ARH-70 cost has risen
Bell Helicopter officials have said they are not yet sure how the US Army arrived at ballooning cost estimates that triggered a government review of the ARH-70 armed reconnaissance helicopter.
However, Bob Kenney, Bell's executive vice-president of military programmes, told Jane's at Farnborough Airshow on 15 July that he "was not stunned" about the army's declaration that costs had increased.

Eurocopter awaits UK decision on SAR-H
Eurocopter is expecting to soon be shortlisted for the UK's Search-and-Rescue Harmonisation (SAR-H) project, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lutz Bertling said at Farnborough Airshow on 16 July.
"Eurocopter intends to become a UK citizen," Bertling said.

EADS targets US market with acquisition in mind
Pan-European defence and aerospace company EADS has set its sights on the United States, targeting a major multibillion-dollar acquisition in the next few years, while looking to extend efficiencies achieved through its Power8 programme launched 18 months ago.
Speaking on 12 July, EADS Chief Executive Officer Louis Gallois outlined the current challenges posed by the business environment, with "the strong euro currency putting us at a disadvantage and fuel prices squeezing airlines".

Thales targets 2010 for Elix-IR fielding
Thales Land and Joint Systems expects by 2010 to field its Elix-IR threat-warning system for helicopters that is designed to detect ground fire ranging from small arms to rocket-propelled grenades.
The system draws on technology from the company's Air Defence Alerting Device (ADAD) system and involvement with the Pirate infrared (IR) search-and-track (IRST) system and is based around four IR sensors, a computer processing unit and a multifunction display.

ThyssenKrupp creates new Aerospace division
German conglomerate ThyssenKrupp announced the creation of its Aerospace division at the Farnborough Airshow on 14 July.
The new division – which will sit within the Services unit – will focus on aerospace distribution and supply chain management. In addition to including ThyssenKrupp's existing aerospace logistics interests, it will be formed from Apollo Metals and Aviation Metals: the operations acquired in November 2007.
