Fire Shadow: loitering with intent
Fire Shadow: loitering with intentTeam LM achieved a major milestone on 30 April with the first launch of its Fire Shadow loitering munition (LM), which is being developed as part of the Indirect Fire Precision Attack (IFPA) programme for the UK Ministry of Defence.

Faster by far
IBD Deisenroth Engineering (Stand H260d) has pointed out that the reaction time of the AMAP-ADS active protection system against large-calibre weapons, as stated in the French section on page 42 of the Eurosatory Daily Issue 3, was incorrect. The figure provided by IBD was in the range of 600 microseconds, which is considerably faster than the 0.1 seconds published.

Oto Melara turrets join with Doosan
Italian specialist in naval and land weapon systems Oto Melara and South Korean vehicle manufacturer Doosan Infracore signed a marketing cooperation agreement on Tuesday for the joint commercialisation and coproduction of the full spectrum of turrets inclusive of the 105mm HitFact anti-tank turret for medium-sized wheeled and tracked vehicles. The agreement covers the domestic market and a number of countries in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific rim.

Conference responds to terrorist threats
The Eurosatory conference on homeland security that took place yesterday and was attended by about 200 security specialists centred on the response to terrorist threats in urban areas. Fourteen speakers from the UK, Canada, France and the US talked about the preparedness (or not, as the case may be) of their respective governments or cities to respond to a major terrorist attack and the lessons learned in the wake of recent incidents.

Pakistan expands exports
For the first time at Eurosatory, the Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO) has established a Pakistan Pavilion to highlight some of the country's defence export capability. Heading the DEPO representation is the director general, Major General Muhammed Farooq, and the pavilion covers two public-sector and six private companies, writes David Donald.

Take off for LFK NG and IRIS-T
In partnership with MBDA Deutschland/LFK, Diehl BGT is developing an new generation surface-to-air missile for the German Army. Lenkflugkörper Neue Generation (LFK NG) will take over the short-range coverage of up to 10km in the System Flugabwehr (SysFla) ground-based air defence network. It will protect fixed installations such as camps and airfields, as well as provide escort protection for mobile forces.

Bridging the protected vehicles gap
Bridging the protected vehicles gapBeing shown at Eurosatory for the first time is the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) protected vehicle developed to meet the German Army Class 4 part of the major Geschützte Führungs und Funktionsfahrzeuge (GFF) (Armoured Command and Control Vehicles) programme. this was completed earlier this year by the company and handed over to the German Army for extensive trials that will be completed after Eurosatory.

First public outing for GP-F2T prototype
First public outing for GP-F2T prototypeThe prototype of a new family of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) wheeled modular scalable tactical vehicles has been undergoing company trials since last year. this is being shown in public for the first time at euro satory (outdoor stand C160) to appraise potential customers of the capability of the vehicle.

AMZ rolls out first TUR IIPolish company AMZ–Kutno (Stand D190) rolled out the first example of its latest-generation TUR II (4x4) light armoured multipurpose vehicle shortly before Eurosatory, where it is making its debut.

In brief
Elbit offers SDR for export
Since last Eurosatory Elbit Systems (Stand DS40a) has acquired Tadiran Communications, and a new division has been created: Land and C4I – Tadiran. The division’s SDR-7200 software-defined radio system is operational with the Israel Defence Force, but is now being offered for export. Land and C4I – Tadiran is also presenting its THF 8000 HF radio system.
