SWE-DISH expands coverage
Mobile Satcoms specialist SWE-DISH (Stand B210a) has announced here that it is expanding its Communi-Case Technology satcoms terminals to provide Ka- and X-band capability, as well as Ku-band. This has particular application to the US military’s Wideband Global Satcom system, which augments commercial Ku-band systems with Ka- and X-band communications. SWE-DISH plans to have its multiband CCT terminals available later this year.

OVL wins HUMVEE spares contract
Optimum Vehicle Logistics (OVL) has been appointed by AM General (Stand J190c) as the HUMVEE spare parts distributor for the Middle East and Africa regions to provide back-up support to military fleets. Along with quality and inventory management control in these regions, this integrated system will provide enhanced service and quicker delivery of HUMVEE spares.

Strong but light vehicle armour
On Stand D125, DSM Dyneema is showcasing its new technology platform for lightweight vehicle armour for the future. The platform is currently under evaluation for key vehicle protection programmes before becoming commercially available. It is anticipated that products derived from it will allow armour designers to balance the requirements for higher performing vehicles with increased payloads and space for future growth. The products will also address the need for better protection against the most dangerous and emerging threats. It is claimed that Dyneema is the world’s strongest fibre, up to 40 per cent stronger than aramid and up to 15 times stronger than quality steel. But Dyneema floats on water and is highly durable and resistant to moisture.

Savix Communications (Stand C150f) is introducing its C-C450 wireless and waterproof comms-control unit for high adrenaline missions. It has been designed and tested to meet the requirement of special forces and special law enforcement units. Simple yet functional, the C-C450 allows cable-free movement and excellent mission operability.

Cristanini answers decontamination challenges
Cristanini answers decontamination challengesDecontamination expert Cristanini (Stand C255) is debuting two systems here at Eurosatory, in answer to clamours from military customers. The first – SX34 – has been developed for the decontamination of sensitive equipment such as avionics, while the second – DDMAS – allows decontamination to be undertaken directly in the zone where it is required.

Ultimate eyewearFrom Canada, Revision Military Eyewear is drawing attention to a ballistic protective goggle that is gaining in popularity when used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Originally developed in response to a request from the Canadian military, one of the examples shown on Stand Q185b has been tailored to its needs by perfectly matching a specific helmet.

MBDA orders thermal imagers
MBDA has signed a contract with Sagem Défense Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) for some 300 new-generation thermal imagers to equip the firing posts of its Eryx anti-tank missiles. Building on developments made in the Felin programme, the thermal imager uses new uncooled infrared technology.

BAE Systems SOCOM MRAP for USMC
On Monday, BAE Systems announced a $53m contract modification for 40 Special Operations Command Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles. Delivery to the US Marine Corps is scheduled for December this year to next February. The SOCOM Armored Utility variant being supplied is based on the RG33 6x6 family. It can haul 12,000lb of cargo and can tow loads of up to 30,000lb.
