Danish company Falck Schmidt Defence Systems is showing two of its latest products at Eurosatory (Stand F080). The first is a Missile Stand Lifting Platform (MSLP) for the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF), with first production units just delivered; the other an Elevated Mast Platform (EMP), which has been developed and integrated into a Piranha II (8x8) armoured personnel carrier to meet a Danish Army requirement.
MSLP weighs about 6 tonnes and has an elevated mast on top of which is a platform that can take a maximum payload of 2 tonnes. It can be raised to 18-20m above the ground to improve situational awareness and give a clear field of fire.
In FDF service, the MSLP is fitted with the Saab Bofors Dynamics RBS-70 laser guided surface-to-air missile system. The MSLP design, however, is such that it is suitable for many other applications, such as mounting radars and other sensors.
The EMP was designed, developed and delivered for trials in only three months and has now been deployed. The electromechanical mast can be elevated to a maximum height of 6m in 60 seconds and is fitted with a sensor pod. At Eurosatory, the system is shown integrated onto the widely deployed M113 series APC.
