Key roles on international programmes

The control section for the surface-to-air version of the IRIS-T missile and the terminal guidance subsystem of the Vulcano 127/155 family of munitions are the main projects featured by Sener on Stand H170 in the Spanish Pavilion.
The development and production of actuation control systems for missile application is Sener’s main activity, and as a recognised centre of excellence, the company participates in several major European programmes, including IRIS-T, Taurus KEPD 350, NSM and IRIS-T SL.
Sener is the design authority responsible for the control section and wing assembly of the IRIS-T missile, and is currently manufacturing more than 3,200 sets. The firm has also been elected by Diehl BGT Defence to design, develop and produce the control section for the surfaceto-air version of the IRIS-T SL (extended-range, surface-launched) missile being developed as a complementary weapon to Patriot PAC-3 in the MEADS multinational programme.
In the guidance area, Sener is a subcontractor to Oto Melara for the design and development of a terminal guidance subsystem. The objective of this programme is to develop and manufacture a long-range, high-precision artillery projectile as part of Vulcano, the new sub-calibre extendedrange guided ammunitions for naval and field artillery. The Vulcano 155 artillery munition is a guided projectile with two different guidance modules: one for intermediate guidance (GPS/IMU based) and the other for terminal guidance, based on laser designation. Sener is responsible for the development and manufacture of the complete terminal laser guidance, including the semi-active laser seeker (SALS) and the guidance algorithms and processing.
