FN’s dual-calibre SCAR set for exportYesterday, Belgian arms manufacturer FN Herstal officially launched the SCAR (Special Forces Combat Assault Rifle) family on the international market. SCAR is designed around both NATO-standard rifle calibres – 5.56 x 45mm (SCAR-L) and 7.62 x 51mm (SCAR-H) – but with a high parts commonality and identical ergonomic features.

Kongsberg and Renault forge VAB link
The Kongsberg Group and Renault Trucks Defense last month announced that they have signed a significant framework agreement for the supply of PROTE CTOR Remote Weapon Stations (RWSs) for the VAB 4x4 vehicle upgrade programme, which will run over several years. The first delivery will take place around the end of 2008.

THAAD battery stands up
THAAD battery stands upIn a ceremony at Fort Bliss on 28 May the US Army activated its first Lockheed Martin Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAA D) battery. Alpha Battery of the 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, will receive a system comprising fire control and radar units, three launchers and 24 THAAD interceptors.
