Malaysia selects THV2000s
FLIR Systems (Stand C115) has announced an order from the Malaysian MoD for 12 ThermoVision 2000 (THV2000) long-range thermal imaging sensor systems for a new coastal surveillance network. Selected because of its reliability and excellent range performance, even in smoke and dust environments, the THV2000s are due for delivery shortly. A ‘plug and play’ system, the THV2000 is a cooled thermal imaging system with multi-sensor capabilities, which is compatible with multiple video networking systems. It provides a range of up to 20km and an autofocus option is available to minimise operator fatigue. The company has also received an order for more than 100 units of the Bill Infra-Red Camera (BIRC) clip-on thermal sight from Saab Bofors Dynamics. This provides a night vision capability and makes for quick and easy mounting of the thermal imager on the day sight.

Streamlining spatial information
ESRI (UK) supplied the UK Ministry of Defence with the spatial services oriented architecture used in this year’s Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID), held earlier this month. The company’s team deployed a web-based geospatial information system (GIS), which streamlined spatial information management. The GIS removes the need for shipping GIS information on media, or provides a mechanism for sharing managed information for locations with restricted infrastructure. Since its deployment at last year’s CWID, significant capability enhancements have been incorporated by ESRI (UK), which claims to have the UK’s largest concentration of GIS expertise. Find out more on Stand D100d.
