Bosnia back in business

Monday, 16 June, 2008

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) once lay at the heart of the Yugoslav arms industry, its factories supplying military equipment to more than 40 countries. During the 1992-95 war the country’s infrastructure was ravaged, including its military production facilities.
Since the end of the war, elements of the industry have been rebuilt, and now Bosnia is re-entering the international market. Representing the country’s arms industry is Unis Promex, based in Sarajevo (Stand E125c). This foreign trade company was established in 1972, and was recently authorised by the BiH government to offer military products in the international market.
BiH industries can provide artillery, mortars, recoilless rifles, rocket launchers and electrooptical devices. A wide range of ammunition, fuzes, primers and igniters is also available.
