Fire Shadow: loitering with intent
Fire Shadow: loitering with intentTeam LM achieved a major milestone on 30 April with the first launch of its Fire Shadow loitering munition (LM), which is being developed as part of the Indirect Fire Precision Attack (IFPA) programme for the UK Ministry of Defence.

Faster by far
IBD Deisenroth Engineering (Stand H260d) has pointed out that the reaction time of the AMAP-ADS active protection system against large-calibre weapons, as stated in the French section on page 42 of the Eurosatory Daily Issue 3, was incorrect. The figure provided by IBD was in the range of 600 microseconds, which is considerably faster than the 0.1 seconds published.

Oto Melara turrets join with Doosan
Italian specialist in naval and land weapon systems Oto Melara and South Korean vehicle manufacturer Doosan Infracore signed a marketing cooperation agreement on Tuesday for the joint commercialisation and coproduction of the full spectrum of turrets inclusive of the 105mm HitFact anti-tank turret for medium-sized wheeled and tracked vehicles. The agreement covers the domestic market and a number of countries in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific rim.

Conference responds to terrorist threats
The Eurosatory conference on homeland security that took place yesterday and was attended by about 200 security specialists centred on the response to terrorist threats in urban areas. Fourteen speakers from the UK, Canada, France and the US talked about the preparedness (or not, as the case may be) of their respective governments or cities to respond to a major terrorist attack and the lessons learned in the wake of recent incidents.

Pakistan expands exports
For the first time at Eurosatory, the Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO) has established a Pakistan Pavilion to highlight some of the country's defence export capability. Heading the DEPO representation is the director general, Major General Muhammed Farooq, and the pavilion covers two public-sector and six private companies, writes David Donald.
