Alstec arming up for new carriers

Gryphon flies
Gryphon fliesOne of the more unusual sights at DSEi this week was the Gryphon, a strap-on delta-winged backpack airframe, designed for special forces. Its small jet engines and low radar signature enable forces to fly quickly into enemy territory after jumping out of an aircraft. See Spelco GbR on Stand 1292.

Latest Bowman trials imminent
Prime contractor GD UK has delivered the latest Bowman evolution, BCIP 5, to the British Army on time for the major OFT3 (Operational Field Trial) starting in October. Development work is underway for BCIP 6.

LIMAWS(R) awaits green light
Lockheed Martin UK INSYS is expected to be awarded a contract by DESo for the Demonstration and Manufacture (D&M) of the British Army’s Lightweight Mobile Artillery Weapon System (Rocket). Under the D&M phase, a total of four pre-production systems will be built for trials including launching the latest Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) that is already being acquired by the UK.

Pinzgauer II launched on world marketAs a result of the acquisition of Armour Holdings, BAE Systems Land Systems now has the widely deployed Pinzgauer range of 6x6 and 4x4 crosscountry tactical vehicles as part of its product portfolio. At DSEi the company is launching its Pinzgauer II (6x6) on the world market and, in the short term at least, this will be marketed alongside the current production Pinzgauer.
