Contract News
Offshore Systems Ltd (Stand 2180) has announced that its sister company, CHI Systems, has won a contract to provide the US Coast Guard (USCG) with ECPINS navigation systems. The systems will be installed on nine icebreaking tugs (seven new installations and two upgrades to existing units), plus one shore-based facility. The ECPINS solution uses Offshore Systems’ software including specific USCG functionality and hardware components specifically designed for the bridge environment of the vessel class.

The US Naval Warfare Center Crane division has awarded ITT Corporation (Stand 385) an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for submersible AN/PVS-14 night vision Generation 3 monocular devices for the US Navy and Coast Guard. The contract has a potential value of USD37 million, with work to be performed at ITT Night Vision in Roanoke, Virginia.

Camouflage fabrics of Kermel (Stand 1413) have been selected as part of the FELIN modular infantry suite equipping the French Army, with the Kermal V50 and Kermal VMC40 fibres selected as the fabric solution for durable combat suits. The V50 fabric will be used in garments worn in summer or warm weather conditions, while the VMC40 fabric protects in cold weather conditions

Royal Thai Navy buys Mk 31 heading reference systems
The Royal Thai Navy has taken delivery of three S G Brown Mk 31 Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) from TSS (International) Ltd (Stand 1864) for installation aboard three fast patrol craft being built as King’s Project Offshore Patrol Vessels. The first boat is nearing completion, having been built in a commercial shipyard in Thailand.

ADSI makes London debut
One of the newcomers to DSEi this year is American Defense Systems Inc (ADSI) (Stand 235), which until a few years ago was mainly concerned with providing protection solutions for the civilian and law enforcement markets. Today, some 95 per cent of its turnover is from the military segment, with the US Army and US Marine Corps being the key customers.

HITFIST takes aim at Warrior
HITFIST takes aim at WarriorSelex Sensors and Airborne Systems (part of the Finmeccanica Group) is heading a major consortium bidding for the British Army’s Warrior Lethality Improvement Programme (WLIP). Being shown at DSEi is an Oto Melara HITFIST 30 twoperson power-operated turret armed with the ATK Gun Systems Company 40mm MK44 cannon and 7.62mm co-axial machine gun.

Raven B order
AeroVironment Inc has received an order to supply the Danish Army Operational Command with RQ 11 B, Raven B small unmanned aircraft systems. The deal includes 12 systems, logistics support and training services, for a total of USD2.4 million. Each Raven B system typically consists of three aircraft, a handheld ground control station, a remote viewing terminal, system spares and related services.
