European source for activated carbon cloth
Monday, 10 September, 2007
Chemviron Carbon, the European subsidiary of the Calgon Carbon Corporation, has been awarded a contract by Paul Boyé Technologies for Zorflex Defence Cloth to be used in the manufacture of suits, gloves and socks to protect against chemical warfare agents for a major European country. Paul Boyé Technologies is a French company noted for the development and supply of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear suits.
To fully exploit the lightweight, high-absorption performance properties of Zorflex, Calgon is investing in additional equipment at Chemviron Carbon’s cloth production facility to boost capacity and enable the production of 1.5m wide cloth for the military clothing market. Zorflex cloths are produced in a continuous process for consistency of quality and performance over the full length and breadth of the material, avoiding the quality variation found in some batch-manufactured products.Chemviron Carbon is becoming a major supplier of Zorflex cloth, which is 100 per cent activated carbon and can be supplied in woven and knitted formats. The company is backed by ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 13485 industry standards.
