Conference overview
The Obama Administration faces significant national security challenges: managing ongoing military operations in two remote theaters; staying vigilant against persistent, current threats; identifying and preparing for future threats; restoring and modernizing the armed forces; and accomplishing all of this amidst a serious economic downturn. As new political leaders grapple with this dangerous and unpredictable security environment, what should industry expect and how should industry respond to shifting trends in Department of Defense policies and programs?
We invite you to join in a discussion of these vital issues at this year's Jane’s US Defense Conference. Entitled “Meeting Security Challenges in the New Administration,” the conference will consist of a keynote address, accompanied by a panel discussion, on each of four distinct aspects of this theme:
- The changing global security environment and its implications: What broad security flashpoints and uncertainties confront the U.S., and how should our leaders deal with them?
- The administration’s defense priorities: How are Pentagon priorities changing in the new Administration? How will the Department balance modernization with recapitalization, and manage risk in each?
- Influences on the defense budget: What can industry expect from Congress, the Services and warfighters? What procurement, acquisition and regulatory policies will the Administration pursue?
- Implications for industry: What are the most promising investment and management strategies for success in the new political and budget environment? What are the most important trends in defense markets?
Our goal is to provide conference attendees with a better understanding of the Administration’s defense priorities and an appreciation of how to translate that understanding into actionable insights that will shape your business plans in 2009, and beyond.
