As we approach the end of the first decade of the 21st century, South East Asian political and military leaders face a range of national and regional security threats and challenges, ranging from climate change and environmental insecurity, organized crime and terrorism, homeland security and border protection, to the modernisation and transformation of military forces, utilising technological advancements, to meet today’s threats as well as those in the future.
We invite you to join a discussion of these vital issues at the 2009 Brunei International Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX) Conference, the premier defence and security event in South East Asia. Organised by Jane's in association with the Ministry of Defence of Brunei (MINDEF), the one-day conference will examine the full spectrum of emerging threats via a series of keynote addresses and panel discussions. The event will focus on four key areas of relevance to defence forces and national security agencies in South East Asia’s fast-changing defense and security environment:
Emerging and future security threats in Southeast Asia: What broad defence and security flashpoints and uncertainties confront nations in South East Asia? How should political and defense planners best prepare to deal with them?
C4ISR and the Evolution of Network Centric Capabilities: What are the trends and drivers behind the development of network centric capabilities? What are the challenges and risks associated with developing these capabilities? How have nation states confronted these challenges?
Homeland Security and Border Protection: What are the key challenges to utilising network enabled capability to meet homeland security challenges? What are the key technological advancements in port and maritime security?
Application of C4I to peacekeeping, humanitarian and disaster relief operations: What are the major operational challenges to achieving effective inter-operability in multinational civil-military missions? What are the key technological solutions that can assist the war-fighter?
For more details, please view the Conference Programme.
Our goal is to provide conference attendees with a better understanding of defence and security priorities and challenges facing political and military leaders in South East Asia, as well as an appreciation of how to translate that understanding into actionable insights that will shape business plans in 2009 and beyond.
