NATO awards largest cyber security contract to date

NATO has awarded its largest cyber security contract to date in a move that is expected to prompt other member states to augment their own cyber security capabilities.

Finmeccanica and Northrop Grumman secured a EUR50 million (USD67 million) contract on 29 February to design and implement NATO's new computer incident response capability (NCIRC) by December 2012. This capability will enable the organisation to monitor computer networks from its headquarters in Brussels and detect and respond to cyber threats and vulnerabilities at about 50 NATO sites and headquarters in 28 countries.
