Jane's Terrorism Events Spatial Layer is comprised of data from Jane's Terrorism and Insurgency Centre. It contains a powerful, interactive terrorist events database that is updated daily with the latest activities of terrorist and insurgent groups.

The example below, of the Niger Delta, shows data from Jane's Terrorism and Insurgency Centre with selected IHS Energy data layers.

• In the example above, selecting events involving hostages and displaying these to show where the highest number has been taken provides key intelligence on this threat in Niger Delta. The events attribute table shows all the details on the events involving hostages at the location highlighted as a green spot with black outline. The event selected in the frame involved 50 hostages. A full description of the event is at the bottom of the table.
• You then have the option of filtering the events to give a view of where counter-terrorism is most active or where attacks have been successful or which groups are most active and where. The events can also be filtered by date to show changes over time.
