South Africa's government pledges support for defence industry

South Africa's minister of defence, Lindiwe Sisulu, said on 22 March that the Department of Defence (DoD) would "fully support and partner" the country's defence industry.
"Our relationship will move from the platitudes of yesteryear to a concrete and reliable partnership," she said during Defence Industry Day.
To underline her point, she was accompanied by South African National Defence Force (SANDF) chief General Solly Shoke, Defence Secretary Dr Sam Gulube, most of the service chiefs and a number of senior DoD officials.
Sisulu said that she would act as an ambassador for the defence industry and that her department would try to maximise opportunities arising from the India-Brazil-South Africa Dialogue Forum, as well as pursuing co-operation with Russia and Argentina.
