Jordan's King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) has unveiled two tracked Multipurpose Armoured Platform (MAP) Concept Demonstrator Models (CDMs) converted from surplus Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Tariq (Centurion) main battle tanks (MBTs).

Developed jointly by KADDB and Mechanology Design Bureau of South Africa, the MAPs have been converted by modifying the Tariq MBT's hull and reversing the drive on the vehicle.

The multipurpose platform was designed to provide support for armoured formations, KADDB Programme Area Leader Lieutenant Colonel Yahya Abbadi told Jane's.

Future potential developments include the addition of a remote weapon station, "along the lines of the Thales SWARM MW [multi-weapon] system", Col Abbadi added. Six months in the design phase, and built within three months, both MAP CDMs will be delivered to the JAF for evaluation.
