Operating Crew:
The normal operating crew supporting LR5 on a 24 hour basis consists of eight qualified personnel.
The submersible crew normally consists of one pilot and one co-pilot and one rescue chamber operator.
Operating Parameters:
The following operating parameters are relevant to LR5's role in the event of a DISSUB:
Weather/Sea Conditions:
When operating from a purpose-built support vessel, LR5 can operate up to a seastate developing a 5m significant wave height. In less suitable vessels of opportunity the operating limits could be reduced to Sea State 4 or less. Surface visibility is not to be less than one nautical mile.
Tide/Current:
LR5's maximum speed of 2.5 knots limits the operations of 1.5 knots bottom current. When 'mating' with a DISSUB this reduces to 1 knot.
Mating angle:
'Mating' can be achieved at up to 10 degrees heel on LR5 or up to 60 degrees bow up. To assist with 'mating' at angles a 15 degree skirt wedge is available.
Rescuee Capability:
At internal pressure of five bar (gauge). LR5's cram capacity is 16 rescuees.
Auxiliary Equipment:
The Auxiliary Equipment necessary to support LR5 rescue operations is fully contained within 2 standard containers and one half height container includes battery charging, HP air and oxygen charging and workshop facilities.
