Pandur

Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug AG & Co KG developed the Pandur in 1985 as an armoured personnel carrier (APC) that could be used as a basis for a wide range of specialised versions. The Austrian Army ordered 68 vehicles for UN activities in 1994 and deliveries began the following year.

The basic Pandur is armed with a 12.7mm machine gun, but can be fitted with a wide range of other weapon systems including a two-person turret armed with a 25mm or 30mm cannon up to a two-person turret armed with a 90mm gun.

Standard equipment includes run flat tyres and a central tyre-pressure regulation system allowing the driver to adjust the tyre pressure to suit the terrain.

A host of optional equipment is available such as an NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) protection system, air-conditioning system, additional armour, night vision equipment, a land navigation system and the Automatic Drivetrain Management system.
