M1114
The M1114 is the latest Enhanced Capacity Vehicle (ECV) version of the US Army's AM General High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) fitted with a passive up-armouring package developed by the O'Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring Company. Some 1,700 M1114 vehicles have so far been built for the home and export markets with production scheduled to continue for some years. This up-armouring package provides the occupants with protection from 7.62mm armour piercing attack through a full 360º, 155mm artillery bursting overhead and under body blast. The M1114 can be fitted with a wide range of weapon systems on the roof, including 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher. Standard equipment on the M1114 includes automatic transmission, power steering and a heavy duty air conditioning system. The US Air Force has a similar vehicle designated the M1116 which is used for security police; civil engineer; and explosive ordnance disposal base recovery after attack missions.
