AAI's Aerosonde Mk 4.7 unmanned air system (UAS) - a candidate for the US Navy/US Marine Corp's Small Tactical UAS (STUAS)/Tier II programme - has completed flight trials from the Department of Defense's (DoD's) M80 Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Test Bed.
A company spokeswoman told Jane's on 21 January that the flight-tests took place over a one-week period from 14 December at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, culminating in multiple launch and recovery trials from Stiletto . These recent tests were separate from the DoD's programme. "AAI conducted the tests on its own [not part of the STUAS/Tier II programme] in its efforts to achieve a higher maturity level," the spokeswoman said.
