Description
The AN/PRD-13(V)2 man-portable SIGINT system incorporates RF intercept and DF processing capabilities in a low-power, ruggedised system. The AN/PRD-13(V)2 has been developed to support tactical missions by providing: signal environment characterisation; signal exploitation; signal location; and threat warning. The AN/PRD-13(V)2 contains a signal search capability that is claimed to allow quick and accurate characterisation of the signal environment from 2 to 2,000 MHz. Incorporating the manufacturer's proprietary single-channel interferometer DF technique, the system is designed to provide 30° RMS DF accuracy with azimuth coverage of 360°.The system can support directed search, general search or a combination of searches. The directed search capability allows the programming and monitoring of up to 400 signals plus 20 priority signals. Detection threshold and other signal parameters can be independently set for each channel. The AN/PRD-13(V)2 implements a straightforward definition of priority channels and provides a mode where they are scanned exclusively. The general search capability allows the monitoring of up to nine bands. Three band search strategies are supported - automatic, semi-automatic and new energy.Using the signals detected, the system can maintain an active signals list, measuring centre frequency, bandwidth, time-first-seen, per cent time active, DF bearing and signal strength. In addition, a frequency pass list of up to 400 signals can be maintained. The AN/PRD-13(V)2 supports simultaneous DF and monitor capability as well as simultaneous search and scan capability. An interface to an external recorder provides intercept audio and signal parameter information for playback. The system has been optimised for the man-portable tactical SIGINT
