The 20 mm M621 cannon was developed by Nexter Systems (previously Giat Industries) as a multi-role weapon suitable for installation in land, sea and air platforms.The Turkish company of Otokar has been awarded a contract from an undisclosed export customer for the supply of a quantity of its Cobra (4 × 4) Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC).These will be fitted with a roof-mounted Nexter Systems 20 mm M621 automatic cannon. It is understood that these vehicles will be delivered in 2009/2010.
