Antonov An-32 - Indian Air Force Upgrade (Ukraine), Aircraft - Fixed-wing - Civil/military

Type
Twin-turboprop transport aircraft modernisation.

Programme
Following a long period of evaluation, Ukraine's Aviant Aircraft Building Plant in Kiev has commenced an upgrade for around 70 Indian Air Force An-32 twin-engine transports. Initial approaches were made in February 2001 and followed up again in April 2002 by Antonov as it sought to expand its co-operation with India. Upgrade planned to be in partnership with Elbit Systems. Around 50 of the 100 An-32s remaining in Indian AF service require structural modernisation to extend service life to around 2030.
