On 20 June, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) received the second Tu-214PU-SBUS airborne command-and-control (C2) post from JSC Tupolev, a subsidiary of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
The aircraft was built by the company’s Kazan Aviation Plant under contract to the MoD, a Russian aerospace industry source told Jane’s . It has already flown to its home airbase, he added.
“The aircraft is built with Russian-made components only, meeting the requirements of the state customers,” he said.
Fitted with the SBUS-214 special communication unit, the Tu-214PU-SBUS airborne command and control post provides additional communication capabilities. It has a range of at least 7,200 km, according to the source.
