South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) is furthering efforts to promote import substitution in the defence sector by engaging with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance awareness of production opportunities, DAPA said on 18 June.

DAPA said it aims to stage a number of conferences across the country to promote greater SME involvement in producing components and subsystems for locally manufactured military equipment. DAPA said that the conferences will showcase thousands of components and subsystems that are currently imported from foreign suppliers.
