US grants additional Sherpas to Brazil

The Brazilian Army will receive additional four Short Brothers’ C-23B+Sherpa light utility aircraft as US excess defense articles (EDAs) in order to further increase its aerial transport capability, Jane’s was told in mid June.

A first tranche of four former US Army National Guard aircraft has already been approved by the US government. A US letter of offer and acceptance (LOA) to support the additional aircraft has yet to be finalised, the army told Jane’s .

Modernisation of the cockpits and maintenance on six aircraft will take place in the US through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme prior to their transfer to Brazil.
