MBDA and Milrem Robotics have announced that they will be jointly developing an anti-tank unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). MBDA’s [Integrated MMP Precision Attack Combat Turret (IMPACT) system will be integrated onto Milrem Robotics’ THeMIS platform.
“Our focus right now is on anti-tank systems with one specific integration being the MMP,” Kuldar Väärsi, chief executive officer of Milrem Robotics, told Jane’s .
“The biggest value on the anti-tank UGV is that firstly you get the soldiers out from the danger zone but another point is that you can actually make the UGV invisible to the tanks because it doesn’t have any heat signature when it is in the tank fire regime,” Väärsi said, “and by also using for instance the optical cable connection between the operator and the system, then it doesn’t have any radio frequency as well.”
