Eurosatory 2018: Estonia orders more Mistrals

13 June 2018

Estonia has signed a contract with MBDA to acquire more Mistral manportable short-range surface-to-air missiles during the second day of Eurosatory 2018, which is being held in Paris on 11–15 June, the company announced on 12 June.

The EUR50 million (USD58.7 million) contract, signed by ECDI director Colonel Rauno Sirk and Didier Philippe, MBDA’s senior vice-president for NATO countries, includes the delivery of training missiles, simulators, and testing and maintenance equipment, with options for additional missiles worth up to EUR100 million. The first systems are scheduled for delivery in 2020.

Col Sirk said, “Acquiring additional Mistral 3 rounds is one of our top priorities and critical defence investments in the near future, besides automatic rifles and K9 Thunder howitzers.”
