Al-Shabaab IED attack kills five General Service Unit officers in Kenya's Garissa

FIVE General Service Unit officers were killed when their patrol vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED), emplaced on the roadside by Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen militants, in the town of Liboi in Kenya's Garissa county on 6 June, the Daily Nation reported. Al-Shabaab, via its Somali Memo website, claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed to have killed 25 soldiers.
