US Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs) leaders from around the world have said that they want autonomous, machine learning, decoy, and counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) equipment for US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and partner nation forces.
Many of these capabilities are now required to counter a “resurgence of near-peer adversaries in eastern Europe”, US Navy Captain Anthony Baker, deputy commander of Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR), said on 22 May at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Tampa, Florida.
USSOCOM has adopted a ‘persistent presence strategy’ along NATO’s eastern border, and Capt Baker said that his main areas of interest include assured communications and increased survivability across contested environments.
