The US government has approved the sale of eight Lockheed Martin MH-60R multirole maritime helicopters to Mexico for USD1.2 billion.
The State Department approval, which was announced by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) on 19 April, covers the helicopters as well as spares, ancillary equipment, weapons, training, and support.
Specific mission items include 30 AN/AVS-9 night-vision goggles; 1,000 AN/SSQ-36/53/62 sonobuoys; 10 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles; 38 Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System (APKWS) II guided-rockets; 30 Mk-54 lightweight hybrid torpedoes; 12 M-240D; and 12 GAU-21 machine guns.
