The CAR817AR is said to be more rugged and stable in harsh environments such as sand and mud. The rifle will be manufactured under the ‘Make in India’ initiative at MKU’s facility in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The MoU also covers the endorsement of MKU’s electro-optics and ballistic armour protection to the UAE military by EDIC Caracal.

Officials from both MKU and EDIC Caracal anticipate that the MoU will strengthen the product range for both India and the Middle East. Caracal’s senior manager for Business Development, Fahad Abdulrahman Eisa, also said that the pieces of equipment in MKU’s existing product range are in high demand in the UAE.

The CAR817AR is said to comply with all international standards and specifications with testing already carried out in the Middle East.
